The recipient of numerous adult industry awards and accolades, Samson is organizing an AIDS Walk team with a goal of raising $10,000 in donations to contribute to the fight against AIDS.
"Savannah has been very concerned about HIV for a long time and not just in the adult industry, but for the population as a whole," said a spokesperson for Vivid Entertainment Group, where Samson has been under exclusive agreement as a Vivid Girl for the past two years.
The Vivid spokesperson added that Samson's decision to join the AIDS Walk was inspired by the current crisis in the adult entertainment industry, in which five adult actors have so far been diagnosed with HIV.
Samson is inviting anyone with affiliations to the adult industry, her fans, friends, and any one else who wants to donate their time and money to the cause to join her in the march against AIDS.
“Yes there are drugs and other treatments, but they don't work for everyone and there is still no cure in sight,” said Samson. “Moreover, in this day and age, AIDS does not discriminate and we all must be concerned. It is vital that we raise the funds necessary to find a way to end this epidemic."
Samson and her team will begin the 6.2 mile walk at 59th Street and Fifth Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. There will be an official sign-in area and sponsors can make their donations prior to the event and without even having attended.
Samson is considered one of the industry's leading adult film actresses and is also credited with co-authoring a soon-to-be released book from Vivid titled, "How to Have a XXX Sex Life: The Ultimate Vivid Guide," published by ReganBooks, a division of Harper Collins.
Samson joins fellow Vivid Girl Jenna Jameson in responding to the recent HIV crisis in the adult world by rallying donations around their popularity as porn stars.
Jameson's Adult Industry Assistance Fund was launched by Jameson and her husband Jay Grdina to provide financial assistance to performers affected by the HIV scare, which has had an enormous economic impact on the adult industry as a whole.
The AIAF Fund has reportedly raised an estimated $20,000 in donations since its inception. Jameson and her company ClubJenna are scheduled to throw an AIAF fundraising pool party at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 16.
