'Rachel Maddow Show' Highlights #HandsOffMyPorn Campaign

LOS ANGELES — MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” aired a news segment on Tuesday highlighting the #HandsOffMyPorn campaign, which warns porn viewers in swing states about Project 2025’s promised ban on adult content.

The segment featured Maddow describing the initiative, and included footage of one of the project’s organizers, director/producer Holly Randall, making her appeal to voters.

As XBIZ reported, the Project 2025 roadmap seeks to criminalize pornography and impose extreme penalties on its creators and distributors.

The #HandsOffMyPorn campaign, reportedly with a budget of $100,000 and conceived in collaboration with progressive political marketing group Artists United for Change, launched Monday, receiving a boost from an article in The New York Times. The ads will target viewers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada, all important states in the upcoming Nov. 5 elections.

Randall told The New York Times that Project 2025’s proposed porn ban is the most extreme she has ever seen.

“Voters have to take that threat seriously,” she cautioned. “We cannot simply rely on the precedent that consuming pornography is legal and has been legal for a long time.”
