MONTREAL — The Cupcake Girls and Aylo have teamed up to produce a series of educational videos focused on safety standards for adult performers.
The videos, currently in production, will draw on the Cupcake Girls' expertise in providing support, resources and service referrals to people in the sex industry, and working toward harm reduction in the community.
Topics were selected based on performer feedback, to address the most urgent needs and equip performers with essential knowledge on working in the industry, while prioritizing safety and well-being.
The videos will cover issues such as how to shoot creator content in a fully informed way; testing, consent and online safety; and deciding whether self-representation or working with a talent agency is the best career move.
The videos, a rep explained, “will help explain necessary elements for a healthy adult performance career.”
The series is part of an ongoing strategic partnership between Aylo and the Cupcake Girls which began in September, with the aim of bringing increased visibility to resources and support structures that the nonprofit offers to adult industry workers. An information and empowerment panel at XBIZ LA in January was also a product of the partnership.
People experiencing abuses in the adult industry, the rep added, “now have access to an experienced anti-trafficking organization that can assist them in getting the help they need. By sharing resources — ranging from collective collaborations to data insights — and by engaging with sex workers, the goal is to support consensual sex workers and foster an environment where their safety and success is prioritized. The Cupcake Girls and Aylo are on a continued mission to combat and prevent human and sex trafficking, promote mental wellness and further establish performers’ online safety.”
Cupcake Girls Executive Director Amy-Marie Merrell said, “In the midst of spaces where voices are stifled by societal judgment, we refuse to remain passive bystanders. Our partnership with Aylo isn't about swooping in as saviors; it's about amplifying — creating a resonant echo of advocacy and empowerment. Together, we uplift the voices deliberately silenced, the voices of sex workers and sex trafficking survivors, shedding light on their stories, their challenges and their resilience. This collaboration isn't just a gesture; it's a movement — a firm belief that every individual in the adult entertainment industry deserves safety, respect and dignity.”
Pornhub VP of Brand and Community Alex Kekesi added, “When we announced our partnership with The Cupcake Girls, I was thrilled to collaborate with the exceptional individuals behind the organization. Now, I can confidently say our joint efforts have enabled both The Cupcake Girls and Aylo to embark on a project that we believe will serve the wider community profoundly. Soon we will be unveiling the first set of videos, which are designed to provide easily shareable resources aimed at empowering sex workers to operate as safely as possible. Our shared goal of harm reduction within the community is at the forefront of our missions, and I believe our collaborative project holds significant potential in furthering this objective. The Cupcake Girls play a pivotal role in safeguarding community members while tackling the unique challenges faced by the adult industry. I encourage other players in the industry to throw their support behind this remarkable organization and its transformative initiatives.”
