BUDAPEST, Hungary — European performer Mia Split passed away in Budapest on Friday, according to reports by industry friends and associates. She was 23.
A message allegedly from Split, circulated among those close to her, indicated that she had taken her own life.
An athlete and gymnast with a passion for sport pole dancing, Split began working in the industry in 2019. In 2020 she was nominated for Best New Starlet at the XBIZ Europa Awards. Her IAFD page lists over 70 titles for studios such as Evil Angel, LetsDoeIt, MetArt, Nubiles and Private.
Split, who identified as gay and had been married to a woman, had recently expressed increased frustration about the treatment of LGBTQ+ people in her native Russia, to which she said she could not return “without being condemned.”
The note, circulated among her close colleagues, called the Green Bridge in her adoptive home of Budapest her “favorite place in the world,” and singled out the adult industry and some of her fellow performers for making her feel welcome.
