NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Culture website Inside Hook has published a profile on Anjani Siddhartha, a product designer for Doc Johnson.
The piece was authored by writer, podcaster and comedian Courtney Kocak, who initially met Siddhartha as a guest on her sexuality podcast, “Private Parts Unknown.”
“Back in the recesses of their North Hollywood plant, there is a special little shed — her office — where dildos surround her,” Kocak describes. “She has all these cool phallic sculptures and molds of different body parts, including genitals — everything you need to design best-in-class anatomical creations.”
The Colombian-born artist — who also sculpts Buddhas, Hindu goddesses and alien figurines — told Kocak about her background in the fabled early-1990s Southern California art scene and how, at a Los Feliz cafe one day, she got a tip for a gig that would change her life.
“Her friend from the Onyx Cafe, a famous Filipino painter and sculptor, was leaving his job and referred her to take over,” writes Kocak. “She didn’t know what he did for work at the time, but when she showed up the next day, she quickly discovered he was in adult toy design.”
After working for several manufacturers, eventually Siddhartha was hired by Doc Johnson.
Doc Johnson COO and Director of Product Development Chad Braverman told Kocak, “Siddhartha is an incredible part of the team. She is able to create gorgeous realistic and non-anatomical designs, and she draws inspiration from everywhere. It’s always fun to walk through her office and see the shapes that have influenced her work. She’s been with Doc for so many years and is responsible for many of our top sellers.”
