Industry Vet Lorraine Weinberg Passes Away

LOS ANGELES — Lorraine Weinberg, whose sales career in the adult biz spanned over four decades, passed away last week at the age 79.

Weinberg is a veteran of the adult video/DVD market, having worked with Leisure Time Entertainment for 19 years, and previously at VCA and Excitement Video, before joining Sunshine Films in 2008. By 2013, Weinberg ventured into pleasure products when she joined Impulse Novelties.

She also worked alongside fellow industry vet Mara Epstein at Maia Toys, while also operating an adult store in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.

“She was very compassionate and funny,” Epstein told XBIZ. “She always did whatever she could for a customer, family and friend. She leaves behind her daughter, Mara, and son-in-law Kip, along with her other family members. She had been sick for a while and passed peacefully. She will be missed.”

Cousins Groups’ Dennis DeSantis told XBIZ that he knew Weinberg for more than 20 years and worked with her for a few years, as well.

"She was the funniest lady in our industry and cracked me up every day at the office or when we would go out for lunch or dinners,” he said. “She had no filter and didn’t mind letting you know how she felt. She was very persistent and hit the phones nonstop every day until she annoyed people — like I did when I first started in the business, hounding people on the phones. She also loved my daughter, which made me smile. I will miss her dearly.”

A memorial service for Weinberg is planned for Wednesday, May 4, 2 p.m., at Mount Sinai Memorial Park and Mortuaries, located at 5950 Forest Lawn Dr.
