KINGSTON, Ontario — The Reelout Film Festival has named new indie documentary "Being Black in Porn," centered on DeAngelo Jackson, Dillon Diaz, Rock Rockafella, reigning XBIZ "Gay Performer of the Year" Max Konnor and others, an official selection.
Jackson also serves as narrator and executive producer. The film, directed by Dwight Allen O'Neal and produced by Mile High Media in association with Noir Male and Novo Novus Productions, follows the lives of four gay men of color as they navigate their way in a competitive and often complicated adult film industry.
“I had to share this story,” noted Jackson earlier this summer. “I had to do this for my fellow brothers and sisters in the entire adult industry. I learned early on that if we don’t stand for something, we will fall for anything.”
O'Neal explained "our favorite porn stars have the same struggles as all working professionals."
"Our hope is that our documentary creates a better understanding of these men and sends a message to everyone inside and outside of adult film that #BlackLivesMatter everywhere, in everything and within every industry," he said.
Reelout will hold virtual screenings Jan. 31-Feb. 7; find the festival online and on Twitter for additional details.
