LOS ANGELES — Maitland Ward recently spoke to soap opera news site Soaps.com about how her background in that industry compares to her current adult career.
Ward — who had a starring role in “The Bold and the Beautiful” before her famed sitcom role in “Boy Meets World” — told the site that “soaps aren’t really all that different from the adult film industry.”
“The adult industry is not like what you’ve traditionally seen in shows or the movies,” Ward explained. “It’s better! I always say that being a performer in porn is a lot like when I did soaps. It’s a close-knit group of people who are often looked down upon by mainstream, even though both have legions of fans.”
“At the end of the day, “ Ward added, “porn is a business, much like any entertainment type of business, except the sex is really happening on screen.”
Known by “The Bold and the Beautiful” fans as Eric Forrester’s niece Jessica, Ward also spoke about her upcoming sitcom project “The Big Time,” set in the adult industry.
“I was hesitant at first, thinking it might be that stereotypical thing,” she told Soaps.com. “But when I read it, I was overjoyed with how positive and funny it is.”
Ward added that she would like to return to the world of soaps at some point.
“I love the environment and playing an ongoing character,” she said, adding that she would like to play “a wilder character” than ingenue Jessica. “Maybe a sultry villainess — that would be a lot of fun.”
