LOS ANGELES — Amy Baldwin and April Lampert, co-hosts of the "Shameless Sex" podcast, have announced the summer launch of a comprehensive sex-ed program for the pleasure products industry.
The program, noted a rep, was created for retailers, distributors and anyone in the adult industry and will go beyond the basics and teach participants how to speak to consumers about all things sex.
"Our mission with this program is to help bring awareness, education, sex positivity and guidance to sex shop staff,” said Baldwin. “It’s important that people feel comfortable, safe and receive proper attention when shopping in stores to find the right products for their specific needs."
"As a certified sex educator and the lead educator for Uberlube, I often see the need for more education on the retail floor," Baldwin continued. "Shopping in a sex shop can be such a vulnerable experience and I feel it’s very important for retail staff to have the necessary tools to not only help customers feel safe and informed but to be able to assess which products will best suit their specific needs."
The rep noted Baldwin and Lampert "will be covering all the bases" in the immersive sex-ed training program.
"They offer insight on language, inclusivity, product recommendations based on customer needs, health and wellness and so much more. In addition, they move through the basics of pleasure 101 and anatomy, while sharing discussions with experts in the fields of sex and disability, along with BDSM and kink, ensuring folks will have all the proper tools and information when the program is completed."
The "Shameless Sex" hosts, the rep noted, "have key ties to multiple facets of the adult toy industry allowing them to speak on this topic with professional insight and personalized expertise."
Lampert emphasized over two decades of combined experience "on many levels of the industry" between the pair.
"From working the retail floor, to owning and managing a sex shop, to sales and marketing on the manufacturing side, to sex education and product trainings, to facilitating workshops — we’ve even done product development," Lampert said. "So, we felt the need to share our skill set with the retailers so they could bring sex positivity and sex-ed to the staff and the consumer. This program really will help reframe the sex shop experience and make it better."
The duo aim to empower retail staff to "approach their customers with positive, confident and comprehensive sex-ed. 'Shameless Sex' aims to give anyone in the retail environment the ability to initiate satisfying, shameless pleasure — from anywhere."
"We're so excited for the launch of this program because it’s all online, which means no matter where a retailer is located, they can access its benefits,” continued Lampert.
"Amy and I have spent more than a year developing and fine-tuning the content because we wanted to ensure the program was comprehensive, accessible and immersive so people won’t need to spend months or even weeks taking the course," she concluded. "They will leave with right tools to provide their customers with the best retail experience possible by investing only a few hours."
