LOS ANGELES — Maia Toys has re-teamed with Tokeativity, a feminist, cannabis activist community, on several forthcoming projects to benefit several nonprofits, including The Last Prisoner Project (LPP).
A rep explained Maia will donate a portion of its sales from the Jessi 420 bullet to Tokeativity to sponsor membership costs and the group's charitable outreach. Additionally, Maia has placed a sticker on the package of the Jessi 420 bullet and a pamphlet inside the packaging that tells customers about Tokeativity and LPP.
“Maia got involved with Tokeativity through a whole network of connections, referrals and outsider tips,” Maia Brand Ambassador Zach Smith explained. “When we found out that they work alongside great cannabis-related charities as well as provide pro-cannabis women with a safe place to practice all things cannabis — including opening up dialogue about cannabis and sex — we knew that it was a perfect fit to partner with them."
The organization was founded by Lisa Snyder and Samantha Montanaro in 2016 in Portland, Oregon and touts "a global network of 57,000 feminists who care deeply about cannabis normalization and living an active lifestyle," according to the rep.
“Maia approached Tokeativity from the start. It was a match made in heaven from the beginning, but at first we really didn’t know the best way to work with each other,” Smith recalled. “After bouncing ideas off of each other for months, we finally came up with a solid plan that we were ready to put in place. We also wanted to find the right charity to donate to, and once Tokeativity recommended that we donate to LPP, then there were more logistical issues that needed to be faced. Overall, this project took awhile to come to fruition, but we are so happy with the feedback and how well it’s going.”
Smith noted Maia benefits from the relationship by allowing the company to work within the cannabis industry and provide a pathway to give back, which dovetails with Maia's creation of a 420-themed line of products featuring the Dazey Cannabis Leaf Dong in purple and the Sativa 10-Function Remote Control Panty Vibrator in purple, both of which are now in pre-order, as well as the Jessi 420 bullet.
"We see more and more crossover between the cannabis and sex industries, and we wanted to help do that,” Smith said. He added that Maia Toys is looking to "expand the relationship by possibly designing a pleasure product specifically for Tokeativity."
“We are also looking to plan a few seminars in the future for their members talking about how cannabis and sex can go hand-and-hand,” he said.
