PARIS — Dorcel has announced a celebration of “the female gaze in porn” by offering films by seven female directors for free on their DorcelVision.com for a week starting today.
“Because adult cinema is not just for men, and pornography varies as much as sexuality does, Dorcel is celebrating the female gaze in porn at the beginning of March,” a rep said.
“No more excuses for not discovering a new vision of eroticism just as rich as it is exciting,” the rep added.
The directors taking part in this project are Erika Lust, Ovidie, Liza del Sierra, Kay Brandt, Carmina, Anoushka and Nikita Bellucci.
“Each of them has their very own vision of pleasure, aesthetics and pornography,” the rep said.
Each director has selected “one of her dearest films of her own achievements and/or one of those that she considers to be the most representative of her work.”
Grégory Dorcel, chairman of the Dorcel Group, described the directors as “committed feminists, aesthetes or militant filmmakers — many female directors offer a different vision of porn far removed from the macho clichés that are often attributed to the pornographic genre. It seemed important to us to contribute to increasing awareness of these works and their authors.”
The Dorcel Group, according to the rep, is also “thrilled that this project is an opportunity for new collaborations. Even if the majority of these women have already worked with Dorcel, it is the first time the company has collaborated with Carmina and Anoushka."
Dorcel is also Ovidie’s first producer and is the exclusive distributor of Erika Lust, Liza del Sierra and Nikita Bellucci in Europe.
The Films
The free films offered this week — with Dorcel’s descriptions — are:
- Erika Lust, “The Intern”: Swedish writer, screenwriter, director and producer Erika Lust is one of the pioneers of feminist pornography, considered by many to be the queen of the genre. Based in Barcelona, she founded her own company, Lust Productions, and her movies are distributed and recognized worldwide. The opening of one of the films even appears in an episode of the cult series ‘Black Mirror.’ Her view of sexuality is sometimes poetic, sometimes raw, but always original, modern and it gives prominence to feminine pleasure.
- Ovidie, “Chloe, the Blaze”: As a writer, producer, director, but also an actress and columnist, Ovidie needs no introduction. The pro-sex feminist French artist started in front of Dorcel's cameras in the early 2000s and quickly moved into the background as a director. ‘Chloe, the blaze,’ her latest adult film, directed in 2017 for Dorcel, features figures from alternative pornography. Ovidie has written several books and directed documentaries for France 2, Canal Plus, France Culture and Arte. Her web series ‘Libres!’ co-written with humorist and journalist Sophie-Marie Larrouy and illustrated by Diglee, questions representations of female sexuality in order to deconstruct them. It is available on Arte.tv.
- Liza del Sierra, “Diary of a Beginner”: The French porn actress Liza Del Sierra started shooting with Dorcel before starting her career internationally, primarily in the United States. In 2011, she decided to get behind the camera and directed ten films. The shooting of one of them is the subject of a documentary film, ’21 days...Classés,’ broadcast on France 2 in 2014. After a break for a few years, she resumed shooting in 2017 and the following year, created her own production company, 33Films. At the same time, Liza, who has training as an assistant nurse, joined a nursing school. ‘Diary of a beginner’ is her very first film as a producer and director. She also composed the soundtrack.
- Kay Brandt, “40 Years Old, Comes to Life”: An American director of adult movies for more than 10 years, Kay Brandt has often adapted successful erotic books. She has also written nearly 30 erotic novels, some of which she has brought to screen, always with success. She believes the script is as important as the emotions, dialogue and sex scenes, and hopes that her feature films will appeal to both women and men. Renowned throughout the world, Kay Brandt has received several prestigious awards and has directed nearly 50 feature films to date.
- Carmina, “60 Minutes With Dante”: A French camgirl, editor, blogger and performer, Carmina has also been editor-in-chief of the online magazine Le Tag Parfait since 2019. She directed her first XXX-scene with Parker Marx after being overwhelmed by a report at the PornFilmFestival Berlin in 2016 and created her own studio, Carré Rose Films, in 2017. Her goal: to offer adult content with meaning and promote a positive, fair and responsible vision of porn.
- Anoushka, “Blow Away”: After completing her studies in cinema and communication, Anoushka, of France, and a fan of the movie screen and porn but disappointed with mainstream productions, crossed paths with Ovidie. She quickly realized her attraction to the world of ethical and feminist porn. She wrote and directed her first feature film 'Gloria' in 2016 which was broadcast the following year on Canal Plus and launched her website Anoushkamovies.com. Going beyond formal clichés and norms about bodies, she wants to put feminine pleasure back at the focus of attention. ‘Blow Away’ is both a thriller and an ode to all forms of love.
- Nikita Bellucci, “Obsessions Vol. 1”: French actress Nikita Bellucci began her career in pornographic cinema in 2011 and quickly became a well-known and recognized actress in France and abroad. In 2016, she withdrew from the world of pornography to study in the medical-social sector. She made her comeback in 2019 with her own platform and is now an actress and producer of her own scenes that she directs with her partner Ludovic Dekan. She participated in the #JouirDeMesDroit campaign and denounced the treatment and harassment of XXX actresses.
Starting today, all these films are available to adults for free at DorcelVision.com.
