NEW YORK — Slate has published a survey of what the online publication termed “the best vibrators for first-timers.”
The article, written by Slate’s Cleo Levin, listed recommendations based on interviews with noted pleasure products experts like Good Vibrations’ Carol Queen, certified sex therapist and sexologist for Adam & Eve Jenni Skyler and Malika O’Neill, sexologist and owner of Fancy Desires & Co.
“If you are considering a vibrator for the first time, the diversity of products can be overwhelming,” Levin wrote, noting that the pandemic had caused first-time consumers to search for “myriad new products to accommodate our altered lives.
“Getting some idea about one’s own body, and general sexual anatomy, and responsiveness really is the secret sauce to buying a sex toy and enjoying it,” Queen said.
Skyler suggested newbies could begin by “first exploring the whole vulva with your finger pads and some form of lubricant,” before starting with a small clitoral vibrator.
“It’s a sure bet,” she told Slate. “Every human with a clitoris probably has a lot of sensation [there].”
The experts’ recommendations for those who are “vibe-curious” included:
- Adam & Eve Rechargeable Finger Vibe
- Mood Frisky G-spot Vibrator Pink
- Lelo Gigi 2
- The Original Magic Wand Vibrator
The experts consulted by Slate also suggesed using lubrication with the toys, highlighting liquid coconut oil as a satisfying option.
