BATH, U.K. — Lovehoney is sharing the results of its latest survey examining customer retail habits as new coronavirus lockdowns lead couples to explore additional ways to boost their intimacy and erotic connection.
According to a recent Lovehoney survey, 52% of couples "admitted becoming more sexually adventurous during lockdown, which has been mirrored in the sales surge the company has seen in couples toys, such as vibrating strap-ons and couples vibrators," noted a rep. "This suggests partners are introducing more advanced positions and kinkier practices into the bedroom."
Lovehoney’s sales trends also show an uptick in bondage items since the crisis began, illustrating that BDSM and role-play have become increasingly popular. "Bondage products from the Fifty Shades of Grey collection have been particularly sought-after, such as the You Are Mine Metal Handcuffs and Sweet Sting Riding Crop," the rep said.
"Remote-control operated toys have also been taking the couples market by storm, while they look for ways to spice things up around the house," the rep continued, "such as the Relentless Vibrations Remote Control Love Ring."
The Lovehoney survey additionally revealed that 38% of couples were challenged to find ways to enjoy sex quietly with house members around more than normal, while 89% of couples separated under lockdown restrictions exchanged sexts and 48% enjoyed "video sex sessions" to keep intimacy alive.
"It's great to see so many couples using sex as a way too boost happiness amid further lockdown restrictions," Sales Manager Sabrina Earnshaw said.
"Many partners who are still living together are turning to more advanced sex toys to ignite more adventurous sex," Earnshaw added, "even if they are having to have sex more quietly so as not to disturb other household members."
