SAN FRANCISCO — Pink and White Productions has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support next month's San Francisco PornFilmFestival, set to premiere exclusively online from August 20 to 22.
The current $7,000 fundraising goal will cover fees to over 100 participating filmmakers, guest curators and moderators; the purchase of a switcher to smoothly transition between live introductions, video streams and talkbacks; closed captioning; and the ability to offer the PinkLabel.tv platform for free to other porn film festivals, among other needs.
Festival director Shine Louise Houston described contributor perks that include social media shout-outs, festival passes and memberships to PinkLabel.tv.
"When coronavirus cases surged earlier this year, film festivals throughout the world from Sundance to Cannes to SXSW announced their cancellations," noted Houston in the campaign pitch. "Now, many festivals are taking their events online, turning to virtual streaming on platforms like Vimeo, YouTube and Netflix. However, these options are not available to presenters who showcase adult films because most platforms specifically prohibit sexually explicit content."
"With COVID-19 making in-person events and travel unsafe for the unforeseeable future, we have need for an online festival platform that not only welcomes porn and pays its artists, but is also accessible to an international audience," continued Houston. "

Tickets will be available beginning August 6, when two weeks of "pre-show" titles will begin streaming. After the live festival run from August 20 to 22, a selection of highlights will stream August 23.
