Lotus Lain, Logan Pierce Film by Shine Louise Houston Gets Virtual Premiere on PinkLabel.tv

SAN FRANCISCO — Shine Louise Houston has set an online premiere on streaming platform PinkLabel.tv for "Chemistry Eases the Pain" during Pride weekend Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m. (PDT) followed by a virtual Q&A with Houston and stars Lotus Lain and Logan Pierce.

The Pink & White Productions title was financed through a successful crowdfunding campaign last year; however, Houston elected to pivot to an online premiere following a string of canceled film festival screenings in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"At first I was really disappointed that an in-person film premiere on the festival circuit was not possible due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings," said Lain. "But after a few months of various virtual parties and meetings, I am so excited for the film to potentially reach more people that might not have logistically been able to attend an in-person screening."

"This new type of viewing experience is actually kind of exciting to be a part of," she said.

The film, a dark romantic comedy, is described as a "straight-curious" exploration of bisexual representation from the perspective of a lesbian-identified young woman of color.

“My films keep getting more personal,” said Houston. “The things I write are increasingly more personal. That’s happening because I’m getting more comfortable as a filmmaker.”

Filmed over seven days in San Francisco and Oakland on a $25,000 budget, "Chemistry Eases the Pain" also features Nina Hartley and Mona Wales with James Darling, Emperatrix, Nicki Honey, Jack Strano and Valentine.

"I'm so incredibly impressed with the crew behind this production," enthused Lain. "The level of thoughtfulness that went into each aspect of filming, from script concept, to scheduling, to record-keeping, to authentic costuming — Shine’s team just blew my mind for what is possible in adult films."

The virtual premiere is free to PinkLabel Plus members; monthly subscriptions start at $25. The promo code "CHEMISTRY15" unlocks a 15 percent discount; click here for additional details.
