Performer Sofia Moon Passes at 20

LOS ANGELES — Performer Sofia Moon passed away on Thursday, according to social media reports from close friends and her publicist James Bartholet.

According to Bartholet, she passed away last night in Wisconsin, where she was spending the quarantine with family. According to all sources, Moon's death is not directly related to COVID-19.

The starlet had been active in the industry since 2018, having been represented by Hussie Models and, since early 2019, 101 Models and later Society 15.

Moon turned 20 last August.

During her brief career, Moon shot for companies like Girls Gone Wild, Bang Bros, Cherry Pimps and Jules Jordan Video.

The outgoing, extroverted Moon served as occasional co-host of Bartholet’s radio show, “Inside the Industry" and had attempted a career as a YouTuber parallel to her adult career.

Moon’s Instagram handle reflected her pride in her heritage: @Guatemalan.Princess. She was born in the Central American nation, but was adopted and grew up in New Berlin, near Milwaukee. Shortly before entering the adult industry, Moon was living in New York City's Lower East Side.

She had moved to New York at 18 to audition to be a professional dancer.

A year ago, she was spotlighted by NightMoves magazine with an interview by Moutasem Seyam. Credited as “Sophia Moon,” an alternate spelling she sometimes used, the model described jumping into the adult industry overnight after leaving her day job at a Times Square fast food restaurant one evening.

“I decided I needed a change in my life,” Moon told Night Moves, "so I went home and found an agent. Three days later, I was in Miami shooting my first scene.”

She also told the magazine that her dream role would be to play Ariana Grande in a XXX parody.

Shortly after her interview with NightMoves, in early March 2019, Moon's life was shaken when her close friend Violet Rain died after being dropped off in a Los Angeles hospital under confusing circumstances. Rain's manner of death has been ruled "undetermined" by the Los Angeles coroner.

At the time, Moon had helped raise funds for Violet Rain's funeral.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
