ManyVids Petitions U.K. Government to Safeguard Sex Workers

MONTREAL — ManyVids has petitioned the U.K. government for the occupation of “adult entertainer” to be protected under the Equality Act of 2010.

The petition aims to protect adult performers from discrimination.

According to the company, ManyVids launched in 2014 to create an oasis for sex workers to thrive independently, and now with over 2.5 million members, it continues to provide a safe and inclusive community space where members can communicate.

“ManyVids fights for women’s rights, gender equality, sex positivity and supports the LGBTQ+ community,” a company representative explains. “We’ve had first-hand accounts from some of the MV Stars who’ve been refused business loans from banks to upgrade their software and equipment because their line of work hasn’t been recognized as a viable career, so we’d love to have your support as we challenge the U.K. government to protect and safeguard the rights of adult entertainers, who make a legal income just like other workers in many industries across the U.K.”

The company believes the adult industry is helping to de-stress the public during these uncertain times.

“Since the coronavirus outbreak, ManyVids has seen a 15 percent spike in video sales and a rise in the use of MV Live, which provides an integrated streaming service,” the rep notes. “Some savvy entrepreneurs are creating so much content, that they’re on track to earn up to £16K this month because of [coronavirus-driven] traffic.”

ManyVids’ petition, open only to U.K. residents, is available here.
