LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures has announced it has wrapped production on season one of "PORN: The Series," the company's first limited series adult drama conceived by showrunner Brad Armstrong.
"The gripping 'meta-porn' anthology dramatizes true industry stories and represents Wicked's entry into the world of sexy, prestigious, and star-studded limited series content," said a rep.
Season one will begin streaming on Wicked.com in mid-March.
"I’m really excited to be undertaking this new project," enthused Armstrong of his latest creation. "In my 25-plus years as a director, I’ve never done anything like it. All 13 episodes are based on true stories that I’ve heard or been involved in over my many years in the industry. The characters and situations have been altered for dramatic effect, but all of these stories really happened. And some continue to happen every day."
While the limited series format may be new for Wicked Pictures, the glossy production values, realistic performances, and high-octane sex will be recognizable to anyone familiar with such earlier meta-porn Armstrong releases like "The J.O.B." and "Camgirl."
"We just finished shooting the first four episodes and I couldn’t be happier," the director raved. "Everyone brought their A-game to the screen and really brought the characters to life. Some of the talent’s lived experiences are very similar to those in our scripts, so there’s an incredible genuineness being portrayed."
One of the episodes was written in collaboration with Wicked contract performer and frequent Armstrong collaborator Jessica Drake.
"I am honored to have co-created my episode with Brad for a dose of extra reality," Drake said. "My recurring character gives us a very personal look at sexual self-exploration and embodies vulnerability. As always, we are grateful to Wicked for allowing us this foray into a new dimension of storytelling."
Besides Drake and Armstrong, performers featured in the first season include Frank Bykkwyd, Casey Calvert, Dick Chibbles, Ryan Driller, Seth Gamble, Megan Marx, Isiah Maxwell, Riley Nixon, Kendra Spade, India Summer, Michael Vegas and Tiffany Watson.
Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein shares the enthusiasm of Drake and Armstrong for this new evolution in Wicked's approach to content delivery.
"Brad has been exclusive with Wicked for over two decades and has won more awards than we can count over that time for his standout blockbuster movies," said Orenstein. "With 'PORN: The Series,' I see him continuing that same success for himself and Wicked in the episodic format as he has with his feature-length movies. We are looking forward to everyone seeing this new direction."
Regarding the future of the project, Armstrong revealed he is "definitely looking forward to shooting the rest of the episodes, and delivering an amazing finale with what I believe is a truly off-the-charts cliffhanger ending."
