MANCHESTER, N.H. — Noted fetish studio Wasteland is announcing today's release of its latest erotic short film, "Fystmalion," a literate riff on the George Bernard Shaw classic that inspired the musical "My Fair Lady."
Starring Sicilia Ricci as an Americanized Eliza Doolittle and Robert Gadling as the pedagogical Professor Higgins, "Fystmalion" was directed with characteristic verve and wit by Wasteland principal and fetish video pioneer Colin Rowntree.
"Much like in Shaw's 'Pygmalion' and its mellifluous Broadway spawn 'My Fair Lady,' the action here finds Eliza Doolittle — a Cajun-flavored treat in the Wasteland version — entering Dr. Henry Higgins’ office seeking elocution lessons to eliminate her salt-of-the-earth accent in order to be able to make her way into British society," explained a rep.
"Little did she know the darker side of the good doctor and his fondness of fisting his students as part of the lesson plan!" the rep added
Wasteland has just celebrated its 25th year offering a playful, classic-film-and-literature inspired take on the fetish, bondage and kink subgenres. The man known as "the Godfather of Kink" told XBIZ's Stephen Yagielowicz last year that their motto "Real Couples, Real Scenes, Real Orgasms, Real BDSM" defines the company's aesthetic.
"The vast majority of our films cast real couples from the New England and New York BDSM communities who already have chemistry, and have 'played' together for some time," Rowntree told XBIZ, "which leads to a totally different vibe from other studios’ 'flog and fuck' style of BDSM filming. We also mix the BDSM activities with a great deal of 'psycho-drama,' which really propels the movies along in a natural and authentic manner."
"Fystmalion," the latest psycho-drama staged with attention to period detail and with a score by Romantic composer Frederic Chopin — no stranger to fans of BDSM settings thanks to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise — is another prime example of "the Rowntree touch."
Gadling is appropriately pedantic as the randy academic, but the real star is amateur fistee Sicilia Ricci.
"She is a real trouper and her 'O-face' is something for the books. And the Red 5K camera gets so up-and-close-and-personal that you can see for yourself how darling, dear Sicilia really puts the 'shave' in 'Shavian,'" quipped Rowntree.
