LONDON — Lovehoney raised “thousands of pounds” with its inaugural “Sex Not Socks” fundraiser to benefit the homeless.
The event allowed up to 1000 members of the public, aged 18 or older, to make a cash donation or exchange unwanted Christmas gifts, such as socks, for a free pleasure product up to £59.99.
A Lovehoney rep notes they were “swamped” and that all donated gifts will be sold at charity shops to raise additional funds.
“We have been thrilled by the response to our first ‘Sex Not Socks’ gift swap,” said Lovehoney Brand & Marketing Director Helen Balmer.
“We all get a few traditional but slightly dull presents each Christmas, such as socks and gift sets, which are stored away in a drawer and forgotten about,” she continued. “We wanted to put those unwanted gifts to good use with our ‘Sex Not Socks event.’ It really captured the public’s imagination and we had a steady stream of visitors throughout the day.”
