BOSTON — Sssh.com has announced a new collaboration between its pioneering founder Angie Rowntree, and longtime adult film director Nica Noelle, which will offer a new line of psychological thrillers.
Together the award-winning duo plan to expand the Sssh.com website, with production beginning in early September. The first shoot will star Roman Todd and newcomer Ashley Logan playing “a couple brought together by dark forces” and will be shot in New Hampshire.
"After I read Nica's screenplay I got up and turned on every light in the house," Rowntree said with a laugh. "That's how I knew we were on to something.”
Rowntree described the new line as her response to “overwhelming requests for suspense movies on the members-only site.” One of the first female-owned and operated adult film studios, Sssh.com has long featured content based on member-submitted fantasies. The site will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.
"Angie is the most accomplished adult film director I've ever met," Noelle said. "For years she's been quietly laying the foundation for the rest of us to build on. She's super humble and tries to fly under the radar, but she's got an amazing list of accomplishments both in porn and out."
Rowntree's recent feature film, "Invictus," is currently available on Amazon Prime, and portions of her films for Sssh.com appear on Netflix.
"Nica and I share an artistic vision — and a deep friendship," Rowntree said. "We've been brainstorming for months for a way to bring our visions together and create something new for fans."
"Nica’s track record speaks for itself," said Rowntree of Noelle, who created Mile High Media's Sweetheart Video, Sweet Sinner Films, TransSensual and Icon Male imprints. "She's got the Midas touch and I'm thrilled she will be creating this series under the Sssh.com label."
"Nothing is more important than respecting the people you work with because without that, you have nothing," Noelle said. "I've been lucky to have that at Mile High Media, and I'm sure I'll be working with Angie for many years to come."
The new series is described as a "kind of a cross between ‘The Twilight Zone’ and the HBO series ‘Room 104,’ with a lot of sex mixed in," Noelle said. The series will also feature straight, gay and trans performers.
