LOS ANGELES — Erika Lust has announced that her soon-to-be-relaunched U.S. studio, LustCinema, will be overseen directly from her Barcelona headquarters.
The noted European director, celebrated by performers and mainstream media as a champion of “ethical porn” and female-driven narratives, announced a U.S. studio last month.
At the time, the studio’s press contact, Andrea Ponce, told XBIZ that “LustCinema will launch in September to become the porn studio for lovers of cinema and sex.”
“The new U.S. studio will offer its audience cinematic, plot-driven original series and feature films with relatable storylines that lead to realistic situations of sex and where sexual encounters are part of a wider narrative,” said Ponce, emphasizing that the LustCinema would utilize U.S.-based crews, talent and locations.
One of the directors who shot content for the new studio, Nica Noelle, had been initially tapped as manager of the U.S. operation, but today’s announcement indicates that the studio will be overseen by Lust’s team directly from Barcelona.
“I have been staying in Los Angeles all of July to overview the operation for my new studio LustCinema.com, which will relaunch in the fall,” Lust told XBIZ today. “The new studio will feature films and series directed by myself and directors Dana Vespoli, Nica Noelle, Kay Brandt and Madison Young. I am also at this moment in conversations with other female directors to join the studio. We will mainly invite female directors to this project — I want to give a voice to their creativity and female gaze for the new studio. I am also inviting female talent who want to jump professionally into writing and directing.”
Lust then revealed the new management decision. “In the initial phase, we have collaborated with Nica Noelle as U.S. studio manager to coordinate the U.S. productions, and from now on we will coordinate from our Barcelona HQs.”
“We are very grateful for Nica's collaboration, and we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors,” Lust added.
