LAS VEGAS — Adult retailer PinkCherry has joined the conversation on bodily autonomy, releasing a statement today on their blog, which outlines the basic principles of their "Your Body. Your Rules." campaign.
The campaign also includes a billboard located along one of Toronto's busiest highways, the QEW near Hwy 427, print ads on the front covers of PostMedia Newspapers, digital banners, and social media posts.
In their post, the company explains the major principles of the campaign, affirming, "It is your body and you are in charge of it. Your body deserves respect. Your body deserves pleasure. Your body should be kept safe from harm."
It continues to put forth a sex-positive message, a call to destigmatize sexuality, a reinforcement of explicit and enthusiastic consent and an endorsement of "safe, accurate, and accessible sex education."
In conclusion, "We believe that you make the rules when it comes to your body and sexuality."
According to reps, the campaign has been met with both criticism and praise, attracting the attention of the media and the public.
PinkCherry’s spokesperson clarified that the company’s objective was not to add to an "us versus them" narrative, but instead to focus on common human values.
"As human beings, we share a lot more similarities than we do differences," said Daniel Freedman, PinkCherry CEO. "We just need a safe space for conversation and a strong message to remind us sometimes."
