LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures has announced the release of “…Upon Further Reflection,” a “postmodern porn romance” from Mike Quasar starring Avi Love and Ryan Mclane.
Love is the reigning XBIZ Awards winner for Best Actress for her star-making role in Axel Braun’s “The Possession of Mrs. Hyde,” also for Wicked.
“A key aspect of the postmodern film era is the need to look back to earlier art and character forms,” a rep said. “The commitment of ‘...Upon Further Reflection’ to this aesthetic is present from the title to the promotional tagline, ‘Love is Stronger than Fiction.’”
Mclane takes on the role of James Wharton, a troubled author and libertine in the Bukowski mold who suffers from writer’s block and alcoholism, a pushy ex-wife and an agent who is demanding that he complete his new novel.
“A chance meeting with a beautiful young fan of his work (Love) begins to lead him out of the darkness and into inspiration once again, until he discovers that she is harboring a dark secret,” notes the rep. “Romance, regret and redemption collide in a staggeringly erotic look at two lovers searching for meaning and history in each other.”
Love is a “wistful and sympathetic muse [and] plays the dewy-eyed ingénue to perfection,” while Mclane offers a career-high performance. “His character's moods, often floating between resignation and desperation, give you the sense of a man at bay, a once-relevant artist who might yet have something to say,” said the Wicked rep.
Britney Amber, Cadence Lux and Kenzie Taylor fill out the cast. Male talent includes Jake Adams, Marcus London, Derrick Pierce and Tommy Pistol.
