LOS ANGELES — Karmen Karma is celebrating the pending release of her autobiography, “Overcome: A Memoir of Abuse, Addiction, Sex Work and Recovery.”
Pre-orders are now being accepted by Rare Bird Books ahead of an April 2019 street date.
Penned under her stage name, as well as her birth name of Amber van de Bunt, the book explores “the intimate details of all her life struggles. Eating disorders, abuse, drug addiction and a suicide attempt — Karmen holds nothing back. The small town girl has had a roller-coaster of a life and wants to share her story with the world,” a rep said.
The process of writing the book was a transformational one. “Writing down my story from start-to-finish was extremely therapeutic. It made me realize how much I have truly overcome in my life,” Karma said. “It gave me a lot of respect for myself.”
“I want to reach out to those who are struggling and show them that there is always hope. You can completely change your life. If I can help one person, then writing this book was worth it.”
She found Rare Bird Books after reading Ashley Blue’s “Girlvert” and contacted its publisher on her own.
A book tour, crossed with featuring gigs, is in the works to promote the release of the memoir.
