Retired Adult Star Nadia Ali Featured in Refinery 29 Video

LOS ANGELES — Onai Malik, also known as the retired adult star Nadia Ali, spoke to Refinery 29 in a video on how her life has changed since leaving the adult industry two years ago.

Since her announcement on retirement, she has opened up her own beauty bar, Onai Here 2 Slay, and admitted she was not banned from her native Pakistan for performing in porn movies — only wearing her hijab while doing it.

“The truth is I never wanted to wear the traditional scarf and dress in scenes, but I was told by agencies I needed to bring politics, religion and controversy to the adult industry, otherwise I would be hard to book,” Malik said. “I regretted my decision to do it before, during and after those scenes. But I did what I had to do so I can get where I am now and be who I want to be.”

Although Malik has left the porn biz, she still dances at gentlemen’s clubs in Los Angeles and across the country.

“Everybody has their own reason on why they’re living, I just happened to want to live like Beyonce,” Malik said. “I created this business to get back to who I truly am. I’m still at my night life job, if I want to see my business doing well I have to keep it. It’s fast money, my stripper income is anywhere from $8,000 to $18,000 a month.”

“Business is a never-ending journey,” Malik said. “You must continue with your chest up and your head held high.”
