With the pounding beat of Latin-infused techno in the background, Mikayla, star of "Dolores of My Heart," and Lorena Sanchez of "Black Worm" drew steady mobs of autograph and photo seekers during the adult-themed show.
Writers and reporters from the adult and mainstream media, eager to find out more about the X-rated upstart production company, its critically-acclaimed first movie, and to view the debut of the "Dolores of My Heart" trailer, made regular appearances at the company's booth.
"The booth was a mad house," Pulpo director Andres Tabogo said. "We had fans all over the place. They wanted to know more about our movies and they couldn't get to Mikayla and Lorena fast enough.
"There were a few people who bought multiple copies and thanked us for producing an adult title that wasn't more of what the other companies are putting out. I can't say enough about the feedback and response we got at the show, and we expect 'Dolores of My Heart' to be a tremendous success when it's released in two weeks."
The overall reception to Pulpo's cinematography and attention to strong, plot-driven scripts validated the vision of the company's founders, they said.
"The movies we make are what we want to see as consumers who buy adult," Executive Producer Mako said. "But we found out it's also what our production crew wanted to see. With the turnout we had, I think it's also safe to say there is a definite demand for intelligent adult movies with a story that keeps the interest of the fans just as much as the sex does."
