DELHI — Madame Tussauds includes wax figures of mainstream actors, politicians, sports figures, religious leaders and TV and film personalities, among scores of other occupations.
But not one of the hundreds of wax figures on display at its 23 museums worldwide can be identified even remotely as a former porn star. Up until now.
Sunny Leone, considered a legend in Bollywood and a past adult entertainer, unveiled her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Delhi today.
Leone's statue was crafted from more than 200 measurements and photographs, taken during a session with the star in Mumbai.
She told the local press that she was impressed with the wax statue, which was the first scented figure, exuding, of course, her signature perfume.
"It's a very special moment for me and I am grateful to Madame Tussauds for creating such a stunning figure,” she told reporters today at the unveiling.
Leone, one of the most popularly searched adult stars on the web even today after leaving the industry years ago, won numerous several XBIZ Awards while at the top of her porn game, including in 2008 as Web Babe of the Year and in 2012 as Porn Star of the Year. Leone was even a host of the XBIZ Awards.
After adult, she later moved over to independent mainstream events, as well as Bollywood films and TV shows.
Earlier this year a TV series was made about her life — “Karenjit Kaur — The Untold Story of Sunny Leone.” Today, ZEE5 launched a second season of the Leone series. A trailer for the first season can be seen here; the second-season trailer can be seen here.
