MELBOURNE — A policy advisor to the Eros Association, Australia's adult industry trade group, will be running as a political candidate in the Victorian election.
Jarryd Bartle, who has assisted Eros Association campaigns against industry discrimination and classification reform and is a criminal lawyer, formally launched his campaign on Monday for the seat in Albert Park, a suburb of Melbourne.
In his campaign, Bartle’s calling for the decriminalization of sex work, among other political stances.
“Politicians apparently care more about what you smoke, what you watch and what you do with your body than the things that matter to you” said Bartle in his campaign video.
Reason Victoria, formally named the Australian Sex Party, was founded by former Eros Association CEO Fiona Patten, who was elected to office in 2014 and has since been a key figure in progressive legal changes regarding safe zones surrounding abortion clinics and drug law reform.
