SHENZHEN — A Bathmate executive said today that Chinese authorities have busted a ring that sold counterfeit penis-pump products with the company’s brand name stamped on them.
Tim Brown, Bathmate’s brand manager, provided photos of a raid at office of a sex toy distributor, where officers from the Administration for Industry and Commerce (AIC) interrogated staff, checked sales records and later seized counterfeit products, boxes and instruction manuals.
“Since the party could not provide the sources of the products, the AIC held that his act constituted trademark infringement against No.10221454 — the Bathmate trademark,” Brown told XBIZ. “The concerned party is Li Chunwei, who is the legal representative of Dongguan Perfect Lover Co.”
Brown said the AIC issued a restraining order on the company to stop infringing on Bathmate’s trademark and imposed a “substantial” fine.
The AIC also seized and destroyed two pieces of Bathmate products, 32 package boxes and 21 instruction manuals.
“We are delighted with the outcome of this action and warn any would-be counterfeiters that we are after you,” Brown said. “This year we will spend in excess of £100,000 and we will close you down.”
