LOS ANGELES — XBIZ Award-winning director Kayden Kross, who swept many of the fiercely competitive vignette categories this year, has teamed up with the equally decorated Greg Lansky brand Tushy.com to reimagine the showcase genre with "Abigail," starring 2017 XBIZ Best Actress winner and 2018 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year nominee Abigail Mac.
"We didn’t make an adult film," Mac told XBIZ. "We made a cinematic masterpiece with hardcore sex. This will change everything. I have never felt more proud."
Following their scintillating box cover unveiling yesterday, the brains behind the Tushy.com machinery really got the hype train roaring full speed today with a gorgeously realized trailer reveal, which can be viewed here (the first scene releases this coming Monday, July 30).
The massive showcase — which has Mac's first-ever onscreen anal and DP, amidst five scenes — straddles the feature movie genre, with its devotion to stellar acting and a huge storyline, unlike typical showcases which focus primarily on sex performances and vignette-style scenarios.
Backed by a 40-page script, "Abigail" spins a darkly seductive tale of "sex con artist" Mac leveraging her looks and manipulations with partner-in-crime Markus Dupree. She is a relationship "fixer" with a twist, because rather than helping couples come together, she helps them come to an untimely end. The ensuing fallout and heartbreak makes for some serious drama throughout the narrative, not to mention sinfully delicious sex scenes.
"I pushed my mind and body past where I thought it could go," Mac told XBIZ. "I lived in this dark and twisted character for a month. The sex is shocking and perverse, but still beautiful. Every scene is different. An emotional rollercoaster."
As for Kross, she confided to XBIZ that the project took two solid weeks of pre-production, given all of the location scouting and casting calls to get actors for the non-sex roles.
"There was so much work — there are so many different outfits and continuity issues, plus flashbacks to deal with," she told XBIZ. "We were everywhere ... mansions, stripclubs, warehouses, streets, penthouses ... because Abigail basically assumes a different character for each job, as a 'sex con' woman, with a new outfit and new look each time.
"Markus Dupree was her wingman, which was a nice dynamic, because she’s Batman and he’s Robin," Kross continued. "She had the powerful role and he was there to assist. We even had her go to the same acting coach I've used for major feature roles."
Kross spoke with palpable excitement, articulate and razor sharp as always.
"When Tushy said, 'We want to do the ultimate showcase,' I thought to myself, 'Well, a normal showcase is taking a performer and showing her in various scenes to showcase her ability to do sex acts ... why don't we showcase everything she can do?'" Kross explained. "Not only with different looks, but her incredible acting ability. We took the showcase genre to a new level.
"We showed every possible angle on her as a complete performer," she said. "This girl was genuinely crying at one point. She was willing to go there, in every scene. There is a unique blend of that raw hunger from needing to fuck right now, with calculated ruthlessness. And it’s the biggest movie they’ve ever made, with the length, the intensity of story development and the 13 days of shooting."
In addition to Mac, "Abigail" also stars 2018 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year Romi Rain, Lena Paul, Ana Foxxx, September Reign, Mick Blue, Kissa Sins, Mickey Mod, Prince Yahshua, Jax Slayher and more.
