KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda regulators today ordered all of the country’s ISPs to block all foreign and domestic porn sites, according to a report.
The Uganda Communication Commission said that already 27 porn sites have been singled out, Journal du Cameroun.com reported. Those sites were not identified at post time.
Godfrey Mutabazi, the UCC’s executive director, said those sites were identified through a list generated by the country's Pornography Control Committee.
Uganda installed the Pornography Control Committee for “the apprehension and prohibition of pornography perpetrators” using electronic equipment such as computers, mobile devices and TVs.
“The commission is in receipt of a list of internet sites with pornographic content from the Pornography Control Committee … the committee has established that the list of the website attached hereto are currently streaming pornographic to Uganda in breach of Section 13 of the 2014 Anti-Pornography Act,” according to a passage from a letter published by Journal du Cameroun.com.
Mutabazi warned ISPs they risk penalties if they don’t comply with the new directive.
