LOS ANGELES — New studies have recently weighed in on the importance of sexual intimacy among senior citizens.
Earlier this month XBIZ reported that a University of Michigan study said that 40 percent of people between the ages of 65 and 80 are sexually active, confirming that the need for and interest in sexual intimacy doesn’t stop at a certain age.
Now, the New England Journal of Medicine and the University of Manchester have both released similar new findings.
Researchers from both entities found that:
- 31 percent of men and 20 percent of women in their 70s and 80s reported they were still kissing, hugging and messing around with their partners;
- More than half of those aged 57 to 75, and a third of the 75-to-85-year-olds, said they gave or received oral sex; and,
- 52 percent of men and 25 percent of women reported they masturbated, regardless of whether they had a partner.
Hustler Hollywood, the pleasure products chain that operates 24 stores and online portal HustlerHollywood.com, today issued a press release over the new findings about sex and seniors.
“Senior citizens enjoy sex just as much as younger generations,” said Philip Del Rio, executive vice president for Hustler Hollywood.
“Connection and understanding of your partner’s needs and desires only develop with age,” Del Rio said. “Our stores offer an assortment of toys that can bring you back up and keep you going regardless of age, gender, stiffness or soreness.”
