Pulpo's first release, "Black Worm," starring Lorena Sanchez in a story of drug dealers in northern Mexico, was shot with a reported budget of $150,000. The "Black Worm" trailer was first shown during the company's official launch at the 2007 Adult Entertainment Expo in January, and the DVD is available now. Adult consumer web portal XFANZ reviewer Vito Anthony gave it a 4.5 out of 5 rating.
"Pulpo's focus is to produce and create high-end adult cinema," company spokesman Wayne Hentai told XBIZ. "It's important to have the sex be a natural part of the story. People are responding to the fact that these are adult movies, not just a random meandering set of stories that are excuses to have sex. It's like a well-done feature from the '70s or '80s. Believable situations that you would want to watch."
The next production from Pulpo will be "Dolores of My Heart," a drama with Shy Love and Chris Cannon centered on marriage and betrayal scheduled for release later this summer. A trailer should be available by the end of June.
"We're elated that our movies are connecting with the critics and fans," Pulpo Inc. Executive Producer Mako said. "We're going to continue to push the limits of adult cinema with our third movie, 'Dirty Queen.'"
Pulpo is a sponsor of the XFANZ Los Angeles Erotica Film Fest '07, Sept. 15-16 at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, Calif.
