LAS VEGAS — The 2018 edition of the Altitude Intimates Show wrapped today with vendors and buyers closing deals and praising the event’s success.
Tyes by Tara founder Tara Christine Stravinsky told XBIZ that her booth saw steady traffic throughout the show. Among her most popular items are the Kinkette Heeltyes.
“They’re extremely popular with dancers,” Stravinsky said. “Another bestseller is the Kinkette Nipple Clamps that look great peeking out from under a low-cut top.”
Tyes by Tara also has created bridal styles that “make a great quick wedding gift,” Stravinsky said.
Marc Toretzky of Be Wicked said that the show was an overall great experience for him.
“We were busy nonstop,” he said. “I always set appointments beforehand — it’s very important to set meetings — but we had a lot of drop-ins too.”
Among Toretzky’s drop-ins was a major buyer from Australia, he said, adding that he also landed a deal with a big U.S. retailer. Toretzky said that it was Be Wicked’s unique offerings that appeal to buyers. The company showed off new cut-off denim shorts that Toretzky says are completely new to the market. “There’s nothing like them,” he said.
Magic Silk and Male Power showcased their latest additions. New to the Magic Silk brand are the new Sweetheart and Eden lines under its Exposed brand; and Male Power’s latest releases include the Terra Cotta line of underwear with a southwestern flair.
“The show was very good and well attended,” Jeff Baker, president of Magic Silk and Male Power, said. “Our new lines were very well received and overall there was a lot of positive energy at the show. The right people were here and they were all very enthusiastic.”
Maia Toys showed off its new packaging that includes magnetic metal closures, and comes with new marketing and point-of-sale materials. Maia Toys VP of sales Nicole Talley said that in July the company will debut packaging for its selection of men’s toys.
“We’ve been on the road a lot introducing retailers to the new packaging,” Talley said. “There’s high value in seeing people face-to-face.”
At Altitude, Maia Toys took the opportunity to reach even more buyers and introduce them to the brand’s new look — which immediately translated into sales.
“Everyone that stopped by placed an order,” said Lisa Hanna, Maia Toys’ president of sales. “There are several stores that carried our old products that are excited for the new look.”
Sportsheets took a smart approach to its booth at the Altitude Intimates Show. Rather than filling its slatwall display with products, the company presented its items with a “faux booth” — each wall of the booth was covered in posters that mimicked fully stocked walls of Sportsheets products and also showcased a selection of physical products as well.
“Set-up was easy and tearing down will be too,” Sportsheets founder Tom Stewart said, adding that the company had an overall strong show. Among the company’s most popular items is new S&M Silicone Lips — a mouth-shaped open-mouth gag.
Neva Nude showcased its expansive collection of Nipztix Pasties and Naughty Knix Lingerie. The company offers more than 30 different pasty designs including hearts, seashells, flowers, pot leaves, X factor, rainbows, unicorns and more. There are also unique materials available, including the “magic sequin” fabric that changes color when touched or flipped. The brand is currently distributed by Nalpac.
“We’re female-owned and operated,” said Emma of Neva Nude, adding that the company has been around for two years and is based in California.
Rock Candy Toys made its Altitude Intimates Show debut with a full candy shop-themed booth complete with menu and Rock Candy Girls passing out treats. The Rock Candy line includes vibrators, dildos and cock rings.
“The show was really great — we saw a lot of old and new faces,” Rock Candy Toys President Keith Caggiano said. “It’s a great opportunity to get at the retailer level and show off our new line. It’s been extremely popular with boutiques and female-friendly stores.”
Spartacus Leathers, which is known for its selection of BDSM gear, showcased its softer, more fashionable side at Altitude. The company’s Noir Handmade line of apparel features dresses, hosiery and more, made of fabrics that include lace, tulle, PVC, as well as its “Powerwetlook” material.
Spartacus Leathers sales executive Albert Koftikian said that the collection is made in Europe and most recently debuted its new Bitch collection with more new additions coming in May. The Noir Handmade line retails for about $60-120.
Impulse Novelties showed off its new Bling collection of pink and purple silicone vibes that are decorated with clusters of crystals at their base. The line includes the Crystal Butterfly Dual G Vibe, Crystal Dual G Vibe and the Crystal G Vibe. They each feature 12 speeds and are waterproof.
