TOKYO — The Tenga Flex has won a Red Dot Product Design Award.
The Tenga Flex is designed for use with external genitals; it comes in silky white and rocky black. The toy has a spiral design and works with internal air pressure to create a vacuum, which activates the a spinning movement. It also comes apart for cleaning; the toy’s cap doubles as a stand for air drying.
Tenga has received Red Dot Awards in the past, including for items from the iroha brand, the Tenga SVR and the Tenga 3D.
To determine the recipients of Red Dot Awards, a jury comprising roughly 40 members assessed the products individually. Jurors consider innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability when looking at each product.
Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Awards, said, “I want to congratulate the award winners sincerely on their wonderful success in the Red Dot Award Product Design category."
"Success in the competition is proof of the good design quality of the products and once again shows that companies are on the right path," Zec said. "When I speak about good design, I am referring to more than just an attractive product. All of the products are characterized by outstanding functionality. This demonstrates that the designers have understood their clients and their needs.”
