"I don't really fit the bill when you think of 'porn stars,' so a lot of the things I do people find extraordinary," Samson told XBIZ. "It's like thinking outside of the box. My wine got rave reviews, and a certain amount of respect went with that. I did a commentary on public radio about opera. It got some mainstream attention. It's nice to be recognized that way."
In the interview, Samson discussed her career in adult and how it reconciles with her Catholic upbringing, how she performs on camera knowing her husband will be watching, her wine business and her support of Rudolph Giuliani for President.
"I fell in love with Giuliani years ago — before and during 9/11. ... I like how he cleaned up the city," she said. "There's a time and place for everything, and I think porn should be in the privacy of your own home. I don't want to see it on the street when I'm walking with my child. ... At the time of 9/11 my child had just been born and it was all so devastating, but every time [Giuliani] spoke, I found calm. I listened to him. I felt safe knowing he was around."
When Carroll asked if she felt comfortable telling Giuliani about her support, Samson replied, "I don't think he would turn down my vote because I'm a porn star!"
Samson has been under contract to Vivid since 2002. She was co-author of the HarperCollins book "How to Have a XXX Sex Life," has written a sex advice column for Men's Fitness magazine and is currently the sex advice columnist for AdultFriendFinder.com.
