MLB's Royals Host Anti-Porn Workshop for Players, Coaches

SURPRISE, Ariz. — The Kansas City Royals, which had an 80-82 record last season, apparently have more worries than winning games.

Over the weekend, the Royals hosted an anti-porn workshop for players and coaches that was produced by Fight the New Drug, a non-religious group that focuses on porn “addiction.” The team is getting ready for the 2018 season at spring training.

On Instagram the anti-porn group noted, "The Royals are the first #MLB team to actively take a stand against porn, and we're inspired that they're stepping up to the plate.”

Industry attorney Lawrence Walters of Walters Law Group said that the Royals and Fight the New Drug’s workshop for players and coaches was abysmal.

“This effort to shame professional sports players about viewing erotic media is paternalistic, outdated, and smacks of censorship,” Walters told XBIZ. “This is how limits on free expression often start – with a nudge and a dose of peer pressure.”

This is not the first time the Royals have warned their players and coaches about pornography, according to Deadspin.

After several players were cited for driving under the influence and arrested in a Burger King parking lot, Kansas City Royals General Manager Dayton Moore mentioned pornography and its “dangers” at a press conference.

Reportedly, Fight the New Drug took notice and reached out to discuss a collaboration with the team.

David Glass, the former CEO and current board member of Wal-Mart, is owner of the Royals.
