D-Money Presents ‘Rock the Ball’ at XBIZ Summer ’07 Forum

LOS ANGELES — Players Ball party founder Darren “D-Money” Blatt has scheduled an exclusive concert and party on July 12 at the XBIZ Summer ’07 Forum. “Rock the Ball” plans to be a slight departure from the traditional rap and hip-hop acts featured at previous Players Balls — this time, a rock band will entertain the crowd.

Blatt produced a series of Players Ball parties earlier this year that featured performances from Too $hort and Ice Cube. “Rock the Ball” takes place at the same venue — the Empire Ballroom in Las Vegas.

“The Players Ball always will be the Players Ball,” Blatt told XBIZ. “‘Rock the Ball’ gives me the opportunity to do something a little different — bring a new vibe. It’s traditionally been hard to book a rock act because of tour schedules and what not, but I feel the time is right.”

Blatt said that he has made offers to big-name rock 'n’ roll acts and expects to make a final announcement about the musical guest in the coming weeks.

“There are many different directions we could go with booking a rock band,” Blatt said. “We could go with a bluesy rock vibe, reggae, classic rock or even a mash-up act. Either way, we’re going to try on something new for size. I think everyone will be pleased with who we book.”

Blatt also announced that PussyCash has stepped up to sponsor the event and Players Cards, which entitles the holder and two of their friends to VIP admission for “Rock the Ball” and future Players Balls for three years for $1,000. More information on the special Players Cards can be found here.

“D-Money’s parties are always the highlight of the nightlife scene,” XBIZ Sales Manager Kristen Kaye said. “Throwing a rock band into the mix keeps things fresh and I’m sure everyone will have a great time. With a concert and after-party scheduled, this event will be the place to be seen. I’m ecstatic D-Money is putting this on for the XBIZ Summer Forum.”

Follwing “Rock the Ball,” the Empire Ballroom will host the official after-party featuring DJ Airek. Blatt also said that he is looking for more sponsors for the event. He can be reached at theplayersball@gmail.com.
