This agreement continues Private's strategy to have its content accessible to more than 90 percent of French IPTV subscribers before the end of 2007. Users can access hundreds of titles from Private's library, including new releases.
"We are delighted with being able to feature our content on Club Internet's platform," Private spokesman Peter Cohen said. "This agreement with a leading telco is another strategic move for Private in the dynamic European IPTV/VOD market. France, with its population of 62 million people, is the overwhelmingly dominant IPTV market in Europe and [with] the Club Internet agreement we now cover approximately 50 percent of all IPTV subscribers in France."
Cohen also said that over the next few weeks, Private will increase its reach to 75 percent of the IPTV subscribers in France, and before the end of the year they expect to cover more than 90 percent through consolidation taking place in the marketplace.
The Club Internet 3 promotion, which also includes telephone and Internet service, offers more than 150 TV channels and a library of 2,500 VOD titles, including news, movies and documentaries. The TV service is HD and Digital Terrestrial Television ready and offers tech features including instant channel switching, pause and rewind function of live transmissions, picture-in-picture and one universal remote control for all TV equipment.
