SACRAMENTO — A new Hustler Hollywood retail store is slated to open in Sacramento.
The new Hustler Hollywood store, according to a report, will occupy 6,420 square feet of commercial retail space on Arden Way, a bustling boulevard in the southeast part of the state’s capital.
Already, “coming soon” and “now hiring” signs front the location, which will be Hustler Hollywood’s 24th store. An online job post said the store will open in February.
Hustler Hollywood will include a sales floor comprising about 80 percent of “non-adult” merchandise, according to papers filed with the city.
The non-adult fare likely will include lingerie and Hustler-branded apparel and souvenirs, which is commonplace at most Hustler Hollywood locations.
Twenty percent of the sales floor will be devoted to a “specialty area”' that displays novelties and a modest amount of adult DVDs and magazines. All potentially adult products will be shielded from the view of minors, city papers said.
Hustler Hollywood openings in several cities have been met with controversy with either city leaders or moral crusaders, as witnessed in the launches of stores in San Jose, Bakersfield and Fresno.
Larry Flynt, founder of Hustler Hollywood, sued the City of Fresno earlier this year, claiming municipal leaders were trying to prevent its location from opening.
Flynt later settled the suit and opened the store to mass appeal. In that case, the City of Fresno was ordered to pay Flynt $15,000 for attorneys fees.
Typically, Hustler Hollywood stores put on lavish grand-opening launches, with product giveaways, chances to become a Hustler Hollywood and appearances by Flynt. Hustler Hollywood has not yet publicly announced a grand-opening date.
