LOS ANGELES — James Baes, who was with Larry Flynt Productions for over 28 years and served as creative director, passed away on Nov. 1 at the age 81.
Dustin Flynt told XBIZ, "We've lost our dear friend and the family is very saddened. James was a father, a mentor, a veteran in our industry. He was very gifted, his creative life helped shape the industry in the 70s and 80s.
"As an innovator, he shot some of the most notorious Hustler magazine covers," he added. "Also, notably, one of the most popular Black Crowes album covers. He introduced Larry Flynt to Clive MclLean, which began the Barely Legal series. James' father Emile Baes was an artist and painter who had art that was at Christie's auctions."
