LOS ANGELES — The Free Speech Coalition announced today that it has established a relationship with the Reisert Group, a national insurance broker that can help adult industry workers and businesses better navigate the healthcare marketplace.
According to the FSC, the relationship gives adult industry workers access to a representative who can discuss insurance options, including Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and Covered California.
“We know adult industry workers and businesses often face stigma and discrimination when dealing with healthcare professionals,” said Eric Paul Leue, executive director of FSC. “We hope this partnership will enable everyone from performers and producers to make-up artists and manufacturers to find the best plan for the business they’re in.”
The FSC has established a free hotline for the service, which connects adult industry workers to qualified, adult-aware insurance representatives.
As a non-healthcare entity, FSC can only provide access, not advice on healthcare or healthcare plans. The FSC said it has no financial relationship with the Reisert Group, nor does it receive any remuneration from plans purchased.
The relationship was pioneered by Ian O’Brien, FSC’s director of scientific and regulatory affairs. The representatives can currently connect business owners, independent contractors and workers to healthcare plans in Nevada, Florida and California. Dental coverage is also available.
“As the industry trade association, we work hard to secure better deals for our workers and members, whether it be banking, billing, retail or healthcare,” Leue said. “Our workers deserve the respect and rights afforded to workers in any other industry.”
The enrollment period for coverage under the ACA ends on Dec. 15. Those in California can sign-up for coverage until Jan. 31 under Covered California.
