Rolling Stone Publishes Profile of Ela Darling

LOS ANGELES — Rolling Stone today published a profile of Ela Darling, the adult performer who has helped shoehorn the virtual reality platform into the world of adult cams.

The article describes how Darling entered the adult biz, and how she’s intent on pushing the use and popularity of VR — and not just solely in porn.

"I knew VR would be great for porn," she said in the piece. "It conveys so much story with so little. Perfect for constructing something sensual and erotic."

Darling talks of the very first time she considered porn, as well as her interest in pioneering VR adult cam content in the article.

She also discusses how she and collaborator James Ashfield created VRTube.xxx and later partnered with CAM4VR to expand that site’s programming.

Darling told Rolling Stone that she’s planning to launch a non-adult immersive platform one day soon because of her driving talent — she can speak to anyone and closely listen.

VR, she said in the piece, moves human beings closer.

“I have a very palatable persona," she said. "I'm a porn star and a sex worker. But I have a master's degree, and I'm a feminist, and I'm very articulate."

Darling told XBIZ that she was "really proud and excited to be featured in Rolling Stone," particularly after being featured in the New York Times.

"I'm thrilled to bring positive attention to CAM4VR and to the adult industry as a whole," Darling said. "It means a lot to me that they featured my work and showcased me as a whole person rather than just as a salacious body luring the temptations of viewers.

"The interviewer was an amazing woman named Sophia Jennings and getting to know her through her creative process in writing this article has been a delight in itself."
