NEW YORK — Sex-positive feminists Tina Horn and Jacklyn Friedman will be joining forces and co-hosting “Why Are People Into Getting Unscrewed?,” a live presentation and podcast, at Sex Expo New York 2017. Presented by Chaturbate, the event is set for Sept. 23-24 at the Brooklyn Expo Center.
Horn, based in Brooklyn, is the host of the podcast “Why Are People Into That?!” and author of the books “Sexting: The Grownup’s Little Book of Sex Tips for Getting Dirty Digitally” and “Love Not Given Lightly: Profiles from the Edge of Sex,” while the Boston-based Friedman hosts the podcast “Unscrewed” and is the author of three books: “Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape,” “What You Really, Really Want: The Smart Girl’s Shame-Free Guide to Sex and Safety,” and the forthcoming “Unscrewed: Women, Sex, Power and How to Stop Letting the System Screw Us All.”
“I’m honored to be co-presenting with Jaclyn Friedman, who is truly a living legend in the fight for sexual freedom in America,” Horn said. “We have both been podcasting about feminist politics, consent culture, LGBTQ issues, kink communities and sexual liberation for years on our respective indie podcasts ‘Why Are People Into That?!’ and ‘Unscrewed.’ We’ve been scheming about a crossover episode for a long time, and we’re both pumped to finally make it happen in front of the curious, dynamic audience that is attracted to Sex Expo.”
Sex Expo NY will feature showcases and product demonstrations from top manufacturers of pleasure products — and national retail chain The Pleasure Chest, Sex Expo New York 2017’s official sex education sponsor, is presenting workshops on a wide range of topics.
“This is my second year speaking at Sex Expo, and I’m thrilled to be returning,” Horn said. “It’s lovely to be able to ride my bike to this conference since I live in Brooklyn. I love that the space is so open and modern and has so much variety; often, expos and cons such as this are in stifling, airless spaces, which is the least sexy environment I can think of.”
Pleasure products manufacturer We-Vibe is serving as registration sponsor for the show.
The Brooklyn Expo Center is located at 72 Noble Street in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint area and is within walking distance of the MTA’s Greenpoint Avenue subway station, which is served by the G Train.
