Viv Thomas Names 2006 Babe of the Year

BUDAPEST, Hungary — All-girl director Viv Thomas has named European model Nelly as his 2006 Babe of the Year after more than 40,000 fans worldwide voted on Babe-Of-The-Year.com.

The site holds a contest each month, and the monthly winners are automatically nominees for the yearly prize. Voting took place the entire month of March.

“I wanted to reward our models in some way other than simply paying them lots of cash,” Thomas said. “Some of the girls work so closely with us that it sometimes feels like they are a part of our company. So, some bright spark in our organization came up with an idea to run a fan-based competition every year, awarding the most popular model with a gold statuette and throwing a big, glamorous party.”

Czech-born Nelly is featured in numerous video clips with her real-life girlfriend on VivThomas.com, and in the movies “Unfaithful,” “Hot Slots” and “The Office Girls.”

“It’s difficult how to explain how I feel about winning [this award],” she said. “I was so happy, I even told my family and you can’t imagine how much it means to me that I could share this with them. Thanks to Viv that he pushed me and taught me so much. It’s really an honor for me to know a man like him.”

In addition to awarding the Babe of the Year, Thomas also dished out trophies in the following categories:

  • Best Newcomer — Eufrat
  • Best Lesbian Performer — Sophie Moone
  • Best Hetero Performer — Mya Diamond
  • Best Acting in a Viv Thomas Movie — Nelly
  • Best Lesbian Scene — Sophie Moone and Zafira
  • Best Forum Contributor — Peaches
  • The South African-born Thomas is a well-known director of lesbian films. His popular titles include the “Pink Velvet” trilogy, “Office Girls” and “The Art of Kissing.”

Thomas produced the majority of his work in London, but when a British court ruled in 2004 that hardcore DVDs could only be sold in licensed sex shops in the U.K., Thomas moved his operation to Portugal. His movies are distributed in the U.S. via Girlfriends Films.
