Free Speech Coalition Fundraiser Raises Nearly $20K

CANOGA PARK, Calif. – The Free Speech Coalition has announced that their April 15 online fundraising event, FreedomStreams ’07, raised close to $20,000 for the FSC’s Legal Defense Fund.

The fundraiser involved online movie rentals on April 15; participating adult studios donated their day's earnings from HotMovies.com to the FSC, and HotMovies parent label National A-1 Internet matched the contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis. This year’s event had 69 donors representing 323 straight and gay studios, an increase over FreedomStreams ‘06, which had more than 230 studios participating.

"We are proud to work annually with FSC on this project," James Seibert, Director of Business Development at National A-1 Internet, told XBIZ. "More importantly, we should all tip our hats to an amazing group of content producers who decided to support this effort."

"For one day, an incredibly diverse group of people rallied, stood together in solidarity, and said, ‘We as an industry are not happy with being persecuted, prosecuted and punished.’ It shows how valuable the FSC is. Seeing the power of the HotMovies community unite behind one of the most successful fundraising events in the adult industry makes us very proud," Seibert said.

“The concept was brilliantly simple and the end result was a collaborative partnership that is responsible for the largest member-driven fundraising event in FSC’s history to date,” Free Speech Coalition Director of Membership Services Scott L. Lowther said. “We are truly indebted to HotMovies.com. We couldn’t be more pleased with this result.”
