FriendFinder Wins Cybersquatting Case Over 2 Domain Names

CAMPBELL, Calif. — FriendFinder Networks Inc. recently received a favorable ruling against the domain name registrant of two websites — TaiwanFriendFinder.com and SeoulFriendFinder.com.

An arbitrator earlier this month ordered the domain names transferred to the parent company that operates such brands as AdultFriendFinder.com, FriendFinder.com, AsiaFriendFinder.com, Cams.com and Alt.com.

The dispute began in January after Liangyun Lin refused to transfer the domain names to FriendFinder following his receipt of a cease-and-desist letter, FriendFinder officials said.

The Campbell, Calif.-based company said it subsequently filed a UDRP case against Lin. Later, an arbitrator, Ho Hyun Nahm, entered the order in favor of FriendFinder.

The arbitrator found that the Lin's domain names were registered and used in bad faith, that the names were causing confusion among consumers and that Lin had had no rights or legitimate interests in the domain names.

Lin’s use infringed upon the rights of FriendFinder in its registered trademarks, the arbitrator wrote.

Company officials stated in a release: “This latest victory underscores FriendFinder Networks’ commitment and corporate policy of enforcing its trademark and intellectual property rights on a global basis.”
