INCHEON, South Korea — Playboy magazine will be introduced next month in South Korea for the first time.
Playboy Korea, with a publish date of September, will include components of its U.S. edition, including semi-nude pictorials, news, interviews and topics that range from car to fashion to technology.
The edition, with a planned circulation of 80,000, will have an accompanying website presence, PlayboyKorea.com, as well.
The Korean version, to hit newsstands Aug. 21, will be published by Seoul-based Kaya Media Corp., which also publishes culture and fashion magazine Eastern Trends, high-society periodical The Neighbor and Motor Trend.
Playboy Korea’s designed readership seeks out men and women, single and married, over 20 years old, according to its media kit. The magazine said it “will factor Korean culture” when editing photos and other editorial content.
While there are geo-specific Playboy magazine print editions in Mongolia, Thailand and the Philippines, this will be South Korea’s first Playboy magazine.
All told, there are about 30 versions of Playboy magazines worldwide — all licensed by Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Playboy Enterprises Inc.
