AUSTRALIA — Filmmakers Isabel Peppard, Josie Hess and Karina Astrup have set up a KickStarter campaign to fund “Morgana,” a documentary focusing on Morgana Muses and her sexual journey.
The synopsis reads: Desperately in need of touch and human contact, Morgana hires a male sex worker for one ‘last hurrah’ before ending it all. After 15 years of loneliness and sexual isolation within her marriage, the encounter ignites a spark within her and she takes control of her life and begins the process of re-constructing her identity.
“Even though my background is in animation and horror, I was excited by the opportunity to tell this dark, transgressive story in a creative and lyrical way,” Peppard said. “Morgana’s narrative naturally taps into many of my personal thematic fascinations around existential horror, female sexuality and the redemptive power of art.”
Hess added, “I’ve always been drawn to complexity and adventure, so following Morgana felt like a natural path. I’m simultaneously inspired by her gusto, perplexed by her choices and compelled to discover more about her. It’s been endlessly fascinating to be allowed to capture someone I admire so intimately.”
